In order to meet our legal obligations and to ensure best value, a tender exercise was recently carried out with regard to the provision of temporary staff.
The tender exercise has been conducted in conjunction with colleagues at Bradford college. The contract has been equally awarded to Horizon Recruitment and Randstad Employment Bureau, who will replace Brook Street. It is the choice of the ordering department whether they use temporary staff from Horizon or Randstad. Both agencies have been chosen because of their ability to meet our demand for temporary workers, their ability to meet our needs, their commitment to the temporary workers, and their commitment to the city of Bradford.
More information is to follow as the 1st April approaches.
If any booker of temporary staff would like to be contacted by the agencies, please contact g.e.padgett@bradford.ac.uk
West Yorkshire Police are looking for volunteers who are willing to participate in their National Viper Identification Scheme. Volunteers will be paid £10 for the use of their video image.
Filming will take place in Room F27, Richmond Building between 10.00am and 4.00pm on Thursday, 27 March 2003.
Students and staff of all ages are invited to attend.
Further Information
The VIPER - Video Identification Parade Electronic Recording - system received funding from the Government during 2002 to create a national service based in Wakefield. Ten Police forces, including West Yorkshire Police, named by the Home Secretary in the Government's robbery reduction initiative have received cash to help them create VIPER suites within the force. Within West Yorkshire these suites are based at Leeds, Bradford, Halifax and Huddersfield.
Acceptance of VIPER as the preferred national system is a major coup for the Police. Legislative changes mean video, rather than live, ID parades can now be a first choice for identification of suspects.
The Home Secretary has highlighted that the increased use of identification parades to fast track offenders is one of the ways forward to tackle street crime.
