There are a number of travel scholarships available to students this year. Details have been circulated to departments and are also on the web at: http://www.brad.ac.uk/news/private/scholarships.htm
Please pass on to your students as appropriate.
A big thank you to all those staff who have provided food for students who have not yet received any funding from the Student Loan Company, and those who just have no money left. As you all know, we appeal each year, throughout the year, for food but this time we have had a bumper crop. Individual staff and two of our chaplains, have ensured that no one went away from SFIShungry.
The students, both home and international have been really overcome with the generosity of staff. One in particular, whose children have just joined her after 3 years staying at home in a very difficult political position, was in tears.
Your tin or packet can not only feed someone who is worried about money, and their family, but it also shows someone cares.
There are many stories, some very sad - they would all like to thank you.
But, we are now thinking of the vacation, many students stay in Bradford as they cannot go home, they have no other home or they have a lot of work to catch up on.
When you are doing your monster shop for the holiday, please remember to add another tin, packet of pasta, rice or whatever you can spare for the many students who will have little to eat this vacation.
Many thanks from Rosemary and all at SFIS

1978. Disco Rules the dance floors, and in the newly opened Ocean's Tower, the skies. Doug Guillermin has designed the newest and most sophisticated building in San Francisco. It may well secure his name in history. But has the contractor cut corners and have Doug's original plans been followed? Downtown in San Francisco, has Nam vet and Fire Chief Allen Irwin picked the wrong day to quit smoking?
You are invited to celebrate the opening of Ocean's Tower in its funky Disco on the top floor. Burn up the dance floor to the best beats of the 70s and become part of a funk filled homage to the disaster movies of that decade.
This will be one blazing night you won't forget.
