The University of Bradford/Bradford College Counselling Service is available to all students: full-time/part-time, undergraduate/postgraduate. Confidential help and support is offered free-of-charge throughout the year. Our aim is to help students manage more effectively with any personal difficulties that may arise during their time at college/University.
Students are encouraged to make contact themselves with the Counselling Service. However, some students may be unsure of what to expect. Staff can facilitate a self-referral by providing relevant information about the counselling service and reassuring students that the process of coming for counselling is private and voluntary. Most students then make the arrangements smoothly enough. Appointments can be made in person at Counselling Service (Main Base), Communal Building, University campus; by telephone (01274 235750); or by email (counselling@bradford.ac.uk).
The Drop-In Service operates daily in term time between 12.15-13.15 hours at Student Services, Grove Building, College campus. This enables students to see a counsellor for a short time (15 minutes), without an appointment being necessary, and on a first-come-first-served basis. Enquiries can be made in person; by telephone (01274-433042); or by email (student.services@bilk.ac.uk).
The Counselling Services also welcomes staff to contact us if they have concerns about a particular student or a developing situation. We offer consultation, information and professional support on a range of issues related to working with students. As a member of staff, you can use the counselling service for yourself. We are equally happy to talk further about the service to staff groups. To arrange this please contact Richard Wilson, Director of the Counselling Service, ext: 5750

Few of us are aware of how significantly we impact on the environment or just how easy it is to green our work habits so we are calling for volunteers who are prepared to help raise the environmental awareness of their colleagues. Being an ECO means accepting that while you are part of the problem, you're also part of the solution.
All we ask is that you spare what time you can afford, whether 5 minutes or half an hour every couple of months to put up posters near printers, stickers near light switches or give out freebies (recycled pens) to your colleagues.
Free environmental material designed to motivate staff to reduce their environmental impacts will be provide by the Estates & Facilities Department through a series of themed months of environmental activity:
To join the ECO network, please contact Jaime Sullivan, Environmental Manager by e-mailing environment@bradford.ac.uk stating YES I want to become an ECO and include your works address and ext number.
Alternatively contact Jaime by calling 3430.
