New. Web Authoring Courses and Workshops

Web Workshops

From Wednesday 22 September 2004, Web authoring workshops will be held weekly on Wednesdays between 11 am and 3 pm in the Staff Training Room (formerly J22, currently 01.16 Computer Centre and future venue to be determined).

Please complete the online booking form (http://staffdev.bradfordcollege.ac.uk/cgi-bin/staffdev/enduser_courselist.pl) using the "Special Requirements" section to give the approximate time you will be attending and brief details of the assistance you need to ensure that appropriate help is on hand.

New. Career and Personal Development Module

Career Development Services will once again be running its successful 10 credit level 2 Career and Personal Development Module.

The module is open to all students from across the University and regularly recruits from a wide range of courses.

The module will allow students chance to explore their career options make contact with employers and also the opportunity to produce a CV and attend a mock interview.

The module runs on a Wednesday afternoon from 2-4pm.

New. Donations needed for Nairobi Orphanage

This September, the university delegates to the recruitment fair in Kenya are planning a visit to the Tenderfoot Self Help School / Orphanage in Nairobi.

Cyn Gault from the International Office is the Bradford delegate, and would like to ask staff members if they can donate any wellington boots for Cyn to take for the children at the orphanage.

If you would like to donate wellies, please bring them to the International Office, F25 Richmond Building, before Thursday 2nd September.

New. News from Estates - works to be carried out across campus

IPI Building

Brazing pipe work. The work commenced on Thursday 26th August 2004 at 11.00 am and should be complete by Wednesday 1st September 2004 at 4.00 pm. Should you have any queries regarding the work, please direct them to Mr Dougie Scott on extension number 3440.

Cartwright Building (School of Management)

De-commissioning of existing fire alarm system and commissioning of new fire alarm system. The works will commence on the morning of Wednesday 1st September 2004 and should be complete by the evening of Thursday 2nd September 2004.

During the two days the building will not have an operational fire alarm system. If a fire is discovered could you please sound one of the air horns (for approximately 5 seconds), that will be located at the head of each staircase on every floor.

On hearing the air horn, could all people please evacuate the building. At the fire-assembly point could a designated person contact the security department on 4499 and report the incidence.

Please do not enter the building until a member of the security staff has given his/her approval to do so. We apologise for any inconvenience that the necessary works may cause and request that you remain extra vigilant during the two days.

Should you have any queries regarding the work, please direct them to Mr Mario Szkwarczuk on extension number 5022.

International students who need to extend their Visas Reminder.

Many of our international students need to extend their visas during their course of study.

Are you unsure what documentary evidence of attendance and progression on their course you can provide if asked?

An Information Session will be held on Wednesday 8th September, 12.30pm to 1.30pm, Meeting Room 3 in the Communal Building, to explain the various ways in which you can do this.

All staff are welcome to attend the Session which will be run by Shirley Moorhouse, Student Adviser (who specialises in Immigration Advice and Visa Extensions), Students' Union Advice Centre.
