Christmas Pay Dates

Salaries for monthly staff will be paid on the 22nd of December this year. Four weekly staff will be paid on the 31st of December.

Unison Membership Event

Please come along and see what Unison has to offer its members.

This is a fun event and mincepies, biscuits and juice will be on offer as well as lots of freebies from membership services. To celebrate ten years in Unison all members will be getting a £5 University catering card. Anyone signing up on the day - 10 December - will also qualify for a catering card.

Catering - Christmas closure

As from 19th December all services will be suspended with the exception of Toscana (Richmond Foyer) and the School of Health Studies Foyer which will operate 22nd - 24th December 8.30am-1.30pm.

New Year opening times will be advertised before the Christmas vacation.

2003-04 Senior Staff Salary Review for Professors and ALC Grade 6 Staff

Details of this year's Discretionary Pay Exercise for all existing Senior University Office Holders, Professorial and ALC Grade 6 staff will be circulated to Deans of Schools/Heads of Planning Units shortly.

All Deans of Schools/Heads of Planning Units will be asked to ensure that all the relevant staff are made aware of the details of the exercise.

Fancy helping out in a school?

Staff are needed to help the staff at St Joseph's Catholic College work on curriculum development, and also a one day event at Rastrick High School in Brighouse with a 'Just in Time' (JIT) Business Simulation Day on Friday 5th December from approx 8.30am to 3.15pm. The event will involve teams of Year 10 (14/15year old) pupils. We envisage about 30 pupils to take part. The day is aimed at developing key skills that all pupils will need in the world of work.

A BIG Thank You!

A big thank you to everybody who very kindly contributed to the Children in Need Appeal, organised by the support staff from the Department of Languages and European Studies (you may have seen four St Trinians students causing mischief around the campus on Friday 21st!).

The grand total came to £385.64 (made up of money raised on the day itself and orders for Pudsey Bear merchandise).

But now The Amazing Syd Selby and Fanny are back with their 'Christmas Turkey' and they have a few bones to pick with a certain celebrity TV magician and his wife. With a unique blend of magic and comedy, they serve up old favourites such as 'The Pyramid of Death', 'Levitating Fanny', 'The Cabinet of Doom' and surprise special guests, all washed down with music from the Derek Farnell Orchestra. Following on from the success of last years 'Secret Santa' scheme, the UCAN Volunteer Project (based in the Students Union, Communal Building) has agreed to collect and distribute food hampers and gifts for the homeless.
