New. University Computer Network Capacity Problems

The Computer Centre Communications Division has identified several areas of the University in which the computer network is close to, or is at, full capacity.

The problem is particularly acute in the Richmond Building where some major wiring closets have no space for extra cabling. This means that requests for new connections to the network, or for existing data sockets to be made 'live', may take longer to process. It is requested that two to four weeks notice be given before any new connections are required until further notice.

Such connection requests should continue to be forwarded to ICT Servicedesk at ictservicedesk@bradford.ac.uk

New. Major Competition for International Students

For the second year running, the University of Bradford is supporting a major British Council award scheme which celebrates the non-academic achievements of international students studying in the UK.

If you are aware of international students in your Department who are involved in clubs or societies at the University, activities within your Department, community work or have taken up new interests since becoming a student here, please encourage them to enter the competition. The top prize is £2000 and obviously there would be massive publicity for your School if the student should win one of the awards!

Full details and the online entry form can be found at: http://www.educationuk.org/shine (external link)

The deadline is 1st March 2004.

If you have any queries, please contact Sue Baker, in the International Office at s.m.baker@bradford.ac.uk
