James O’Hara – Blues Classics
Jazzman’s | FREEGuitarist, singer and bandleader James O’Hara’s lunchtime concert last year was such a success that we were compelled to ask him back for a repeat performance. Creating an amazingly authentic blues sound, O’Hara will literally blow your mind with the quality of his singing style. His song list spans the whole of the blues genre without having to strain for effect. It will be a pleasure to hear him again, this time in our new Jazz Café event in Jazzman’s. When it comes to crafting original cliché-free blues solos and arrangements, James has no equal.
The Bradford Grid
Friday 22 April - Friday 20 May 2005
Weekdays 11am-5pm (except Thursdays until 6pm) | FREE!Artist's talk
Wednesday 4 May | 12.30pm
Photographer Patrick Allen will talk about the project.
Gallery II | FREE!
All welcomeThe Bradford Grid is a unique collaboration between 10 creative photographers who either live or work in the Bradford Metropolitan district. The group meets on a regular basis and guest photographers are frequently invited to participate. Individual squares from a map of the Bradford area are chosen at random and participants on the project visit that square during the subsequent month. Each photographer works in their own particular style and is given freedom to explore their own working practices and develop themes as they work through each of the squares.
This show is the first of a series and exhibits an individual's responses that display both the diversity of approaches to photography as well as the rich variety of locations that the group has explored to date. We provide an alternative approach to the visual environment of the Bradford district that confronts many of the common perceptions that people have about the city.
