New. FREE Luchtime Concert at the Yorkshire Craft Centre

Wednesday 14 January, 12.30 - 1.15pm

Featuring music by Sir William Walton, poetry by Edith Sitwell and paintings by Amrik Varkalis.

This lunchtime concert marks the first of three in a series titled Spring Forward. The next in the series is on Wednesday 10th March at 12.30pm, when Mark Haydn Robinson will conduct Bradford University Chamber Orchestra in a performance of Mendelssohn's Hebrides Overture and movements from the First Symphony. This will be in conjunction with an exhibition of stunning photographs of the Outer Hebrides by Brian Hindmarch. On the same Hebridean theme, Wednesday 17th of March at 12.30pm sees the Europa Piano Trio perform the Mendelssohn D minor piano trio and music to celebrate the centenary of Anton Dvorak (1841-1904).

Yorkshire Craft Centre Café is open for lunch throughout the series (10.30am - 2.00pm).

New. Visitor and Occasional User Permits

Over time it has become apparent that the current visitor permit and occasional user permits have been subject to misuse. In an attempt to eliminate these practices we have obtained some new 'scratch-card' type permits. From the New Year Visitor and occasional user permits will be obtainable as detailed below:

The December issue has a festive theme and also looks ahead to 2004 events linked to Special Collections (from "bog bodies" in poetry to J.B. Priestley's social concerns).

Also recent donations, the History of Pharmacy exhibition in the J.B. Priestley Library and advice on caring for rare books.

New. Meeting Maker Interruption to Service, 10th and 11th January 2004 Reminder.

In order to upgrade the campus diary management system, Meeting Maker, to a new version the system will be unavailable from 8am on Saturday 10th January until 9pm on Sunday, 11th January 2004.

We would also advise users to print a copy of their diaries for the following week as a precautionary measure.

Upgraded client software will be delivered automatically through the ZEN Application Explorer. If your department does not use ZEN contact your departmental IT staff, who will be provided with the software by the Computer Centre.

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this essential work may cause.
