Student Finance Day

Today the Independent Task Force on Student Finance Information have organised Student Finance Day, a national day dedicated to explaining the 2012 changes to student finance in England.

There is a stall in the atrium providing further information and offering staff and students the opportunity to ask questions related to the new fees regime and our offer here at Bradford.

Vice-Chancellor’s annual address to assembly

The Vice-Chancellor’s Annual Address to the Assembly will be held on Wednesday 23 November 2011 at 1pm in Room C7, Richmond Building.

School of Health Studies raising funds for Children in Need

The School of Health Studies is fundraising for BBC Children in Need this Friday (18 November). There'll be a cake sale in the school's reception from 9am (all cake donations are gratefully received) and there'll also be a' Wear Spots-Donate £1 day'. All staff and students are welcome to take part.

National HE STEM at the University of Bradford STEM meets sustainability

A 15 month Green STEM institutional legacy project funded through National HE STEM is designed to create news links between traditional STEM subjects and sustainable development. A multi-project team working across SCIM, SEDT, SLS and estates are working on major energy and waste reductions strategies in laboratories, new green chemistry curricula, low carbon software engineering and a design competition on low carbon human powered vehicles. Additionally the project is a catalyst for a new national sustainable lab assessment tool launched this autumn, creating a national HE STEM and sustainability award scheme and hosting a major international conferenc eon STEM and sustainability in June 2012. Applied Health and Social Psychology Group Seminar series

The Applied Health and Social Psychology Group is based in the Division of Psychology within the School of Social and International Studies is launching a seminar series.

The Semester 1 programme begins with a presentation by Dr Jo Ashby on alcohol misuse and coercive treatment on Wednesday 30 November.

The group includes a number of researchers from across the University. Members of this group aim to draw upon psychological principles and theory to research how a range of issues impact upon health and wellbeing.

BUStA Ossett Brewery Tour

BUStA will be taking a party of members and their guests to the Ossett Brewery on Friday 25th November 2011.

The trip will leave the University at 6pm by coach.  The tour finishes with the all-important sampling session in their newly refurbished brewery bar where a wide selection of Ossett Brewery products and merchandise will be available, and then onto The Old Vic, for a selection of pies and peas accompanied by a free pint.  The coach will leave at around 10pm to make our way back to Bradford.

The cost of the trip is £15 for BUStA members and £17.50 for guests, which includes transport by coach, the visit, and a pie and peas supper.   Contact Doreen Foster on x6620 or email her here to book your place.

University Visit Event

Wednesday 23 November 2011 1-4pm

We are holding an informal Undergraduate Visit Event on the 23rd November where people  will have the opportunity to learn more about the courses that we have on offer, view our specialist facilities and speak to departmental staff. They can also take a tour of the University campus and meet our current students.

The event will take place in the Small Hall in the Richmond Building where there will be University staff on hand to talk  about the courses available and specialist staff from a range of our support services including the Counselling Service, Student Finance and the Nursery.

School of Management - guest lecture series

Asbestos removal works will be undertaken within the residences plant room, Chesham C0.02. During this time there will be strictly no access to this area. The plant room to the front of C02.10 will be unaffected and accessible throughout the duration of the works.

Costing Your Research Grant – 17 November 10-12pm

From different funders, eligible costs and fEC to overheads and understanding what happens once you receive an award, the RSU and members of the Finance team will talk you through how to get the most out of your grant and the resources available.
