Equipment

Projection

  • There are twin 5,500-lumen data projectors mounted in the ceiling which project side-by-side onto the 6m by 2.26m screen.
  • Video sources can be assigned independently to either of the two projectors.
  • Two PCs are available, each with Windows XP, Microsoft Office, and internet access (for academic and non-commercial use only).
  • One of the PCs has a SMART Sympodium interactive display.
  • Four-way USB hubs and CD/DVD drives make it easy for speakers to use presentations and other documents that they have brought with them.
  • There is also a multi-regional DVD player.
  • Presenters who bring their own laptops can connect the video and sound outputs to the projectors and PA system, and both wired and wireless internet access is provided for non-commercial use.
  • A document camera allows paper documents to be projected easily and in sharp, automatic focus.
  • A telepresenter can be used to record presentations with a 'picture-in-picture' video of the lecturer, filmed using the ceiling-mounted video camera.

Sound

The Auditorium has a ceiling array of twelve loudspeakers as well as the standard stereo speakers mounted near the projection screen. Tie-clip and hand-held microphones are available, as are other aids for speakers such as laser pointers and wireless controllers for PowerPoint presentations.

For deaf and hard-of-hearing delegates

The Auditorium has an infra-red hard-of-hearing system with both "neckloop" and "stethoset" receivers. A specially-positioned spotlight allows a sign-language interpreter to be seen clearly even when the house lights are dimmed for a video or slide show.

Remote controls and laser pointers

Two wireless remote controls, suitable for changing PowerPoint slides and capable of being used at the same time independently of each other, are provided. These also function as laser pointers.

Exhibition boards

The Norcroft Centre has a number of display boards that can be used for posters or photographs.

  • Our standard boards are of a free-standing folding design. They consist of three panels each measuring approximately 179.5cm by 90cm or 5'10" x 2"11' (height x width of usable area) - big enough for one A0 poster in portrait orientation.
  • Eight of these are included with venue bookings subject to availability and space. More boards can be provided at additional cost. Boards that are hired in, will be of a different design, usually a flat 8' x 4' type.
  • Posters must be attached by means of velcro dots, not drawing pins.
  • Up to ten trestle tables are available for exhibitions and catering; additional tables can be provided by arrangement with Bradford Conferencing.
