We have selected facial recognition to validate the proposed concept as providing a solution for this application. The main deliverable of the project will be the integration and fine-tuning of in-house developed technologies described above.
On first investigation, a system for 3D facial acquisition and recognition has significant commercial potential. It is important to note that such technology would have much broader generic applications, for example, in the medical, industrial and transportation fields.
There are a number of possible areas of exciting research which stem from this work. Interested visiting scholars and potential postgraduate (MPhil and PhD) students are welcome to contact Dr Ugail for further discussion.
