BSc Media Technology and Production

Media Technology And Production.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

BSC MEDIA TECHNOLOGY AND PRODUCTION: focuses on the business of media production with an emphasis on television. It covers the generation of ideas, through the stages of proposal writing, development and management of the production processes. A large proportion of the teaching on the course, especially in the final year, is done by practising media professionals, and the course aims to duplicate as closely as possible the aesthetic values and technical standards that you will encounter in industry.

In the first year you will study a number of core modules covering the theory of media analysis and design and introducing you to the technical tools and skills which you will use throughout the course.

This is continued in the second year with the addition of courses covering practical skills and project management. The emphasis in the final year is on production itself; the business of planning, researching, executing and developing a major group project of professional quality. Whilst the course focus is audio-visual media, your work may include computer animation, multimedia, graphic design and web development. You will work as part of a carefully selected team and your project will form a significant part of your portfolio on graduation. Many recent student productions have won awards and critical acclaim from industrial bodies including the Royal Television Society.

As an MTP student, you'll also get the opportunity to work closely with fellow students in group-based productions - so of course you get to meet some excellent people!

We use the term 'exit velocity' which means we like to make sure that when students leave the Bradford Media School they hit the ground running, in the right direction, with the right approach, qualifications and portfolio. We offer to support them further with references and whatever help and advice we can give them upon leaving.
