Welcome to Bradford Media School

Ali Rashid Head of Bradford Media School The creative and technical skill to produce content across a variety of platforms is the underlying principle behind the Bradford Media School. Its media courses and activities offers opportunities to specialise in television, interactive and digital media, web design and technology and photography but all within the context of the modern media landscape. In fact we were one of the first universities in the UK to successfully combine creative and technical subjects in the same course. We also offer courses in media studies with practical options.

The School has the very latest in digital media production facilities and has partnerships and engagement with such organisations as the BBC, Channel 4, Screen Yorkshire, and a number of independent production companies and digital agencies. It also has an enterprise business centre on the campus which helps student entrepreneurs who want to start their own creative business. While our unique partnership with the National Media Museum gives our students access to a wealth of resources and expertise, such as master classes, viewings and four major festivals, that only such an internationally renowned institution can offer.

Skillset Media Academy Logo. The School is part of the Skillset Media Academy Network, launched on 13 December 2007 in London by Culture Minister James Purnell, Skills Minister David Lammy and a host of representatives from the media industry.

The network has been devised by Skillset - the UK Sector Skills Council for the Audio Visual Industries. The Network is made up of 17 Academies, drawing together creative education partnerships from 43 colleges and universities across the UK.

The institutions in the network are already centres of excellence in television production and interactive media, and Bradford will build on its existing partnership with the National Media Museum by working with East Coast Media based at the Grimsby Institute in Lincolnshire.
