External Activities

We believe psychology is both an exciting and a challenging discipline. Not everyone has knowledge or experience of psychology before they come to university, so we offer a range of activities with local schools and colleges to share both our knowledge and enthusiasm for the subject. We are committed to widening participation in Higher Education, and are actively involved in a number of schemes aimed at raising aspirations and attainment for those in secondary and further education. These include:

Junior University - activities for pupils aged 14 upwards, studying for GCSE and A-levels.
The Bradford Compact Scheme (Activity/Taster Days) - Our Activity Days give F.E. students a taste of university life, including mini-lectures, lab-based activities, and tours of campus and facilities. The Compact Scheme also offers the opportunity to complete additional work which counts as 30 UCAS points towards an application to the University of Bradford.
Higher Education Summer School - a 5-day programme for year-11 pupils. Completing the Summer School provides credit towards UCAS application to Bradford University.
Advice for Mature Students - a new scheme to offer Activity Days specifically focused on the issues raised by mature students.
Primary Fun Days - a series of activities aimed at primary school pupils to raise aspirations and attainment before entering secondary school.

The University also runs a range of Open Day activities. You can come along and talk to members of staff about the course, as well as getting a feel for campus life and the City of Bradford in general. See full details of the Open Day programme .
