traffic lights at orange. The University operates a scheme for staff to purchase MetroCards at a 15% discount off the normal cost of an annual MetroCard.
Metro have agreed this discount with the University in recognition of our efforts to promote sustainable travel choices and our commitment to developing and maintaining a travel plan.

The scheme involves the University purchasing the Annual MetroCards on a bulk basis and recovering the cost from participants by equal deductions from their salary/wage spread over the year.
There are four application rounds each academic year:
Staff joining the scheme in February and May pay a pro rata fee for the MetroCard up to the 30th of September and can then renew from the 1st of October for a full 12 month period.

New Applicants:
Once completed, take the form along to the Personnel Office, Room D35, Richmond Building. Please bring along with you two passport-type photographs with your full
name printed on the reverse
Current Card Holders:
You do not
have to supply a photograph or complete the form below. You do need to obtain a blue renewal form from Personnel and quote your existing photocard number. The renewal form can be obtained direct from Personnel or by contacting contact Helen Thomas:

In both cases cards will then be ordered from Metro and the deduction from salary/wage put through. You will be notified when the card is ready for collection from the Personnel office.

In the event of you leaving the University’s employment, the balance due will be deducted from your outstanding salary/wage with partial refunds for unexpired periods obtainable from Metro.
It should be noted that the refund will be less than the direct proportion of the original cost for the period remaining. The cost for the used period is recalculated on the basis of the cost of quarterly, monthly and weekly tickets and the resultant balance refunded.
