Dorothy Carter. Senior Citizens Dorothy Carter (pictured right) and Pat Eastwood may have the flexibility of 'youngsters' half their age - but after 15 years teaching Yoga at the University, the sprightly pair have decided to call it a day.
Dorothy, 71, and Pat, 68, have been bending and stretching their way through the Senior Citizens yoga class at the University Sports Centre since 1987. The pair regularly travelled from Leeds in all weathers and rarely missed a class.
Director of Physical Recreation Steve Teasdale said: "Dorothy maintains that age is catching up with them, joints are beginning to creak, but they look pretty energetic to us! They are great favourites with all the Seniors who attend the class and will be sorely missed. From all the Sports Centre Staff and all 'yogis' past and present, we wish them a very happy retirement."
Dorothy said: "We have both thoroughly enjoyed our years with the group and we were sorry to leave."
Replacement teacher Mary Rosier, who, in her early 60s, is a baby in the class, will be taking the group from this month. Classes are held each Tuesday mornings at 10am until 11am.
