University gives adult learners a chance to gain further skills and knowledge

    6 May 09

As part of the national celebrations of Adult Learners' Week (9 to 15 May) the University of Bradford will be offering advice and information about studying at the University at various locations across the Bradford district.

Advisers will be on hand during the week to raise awareness of what study options are available for adult learners. As nearly a third of the University's students are over 21, the University offers a dedicated advisor for students who are returning to learn, to ensure they are supported and all their needs are met.

There are a range of possibilities for study at Bradford including work-based leaning, full-time, part-time and flexible study opportunities. There are options to take individual modules, either for interest or professional development or the potential to visit open lectures or study days.
Joyce Martin, the University's Mature Student Adviser said: "With the current economic climate there isn't a better time to up-skill and gain further knowledge. Whether you want to gain new skills and move on in your career, or whether you want to learn more about a subject you're interested in - adult learning could be the ideal solution.
"The University recognises that a return to learning is not easy as people often have commitments and responsibilities. Adult Learners' Week is a fantastic opportunity to speak to our advisers about the huge range of courses available and how we can support them."
For more details please contact Joyce Martin on 01274 235113, e-mail j.martin9@bradford.ac.uk or visit www.brad.ac.uk/alw

Adult Learners' Week is organised by the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE) and aims to celebrate adult learning and raise awareness of learning opportunities for mature students.
