'Seduction. Deception. Manipulation.' comes to Bradford

    9 June 09

Building on their previous success at Theatre in the Mill at the University of Bradford, Development Lab brings an evening of 'Seduction. Deception. Manipulation', to Bradford on Saturday 13 June.

Having premiered in Leeds in April, The Ferryman, by Yorkshire based playwright Bethany Layne, is being reprised by Development Lab's emerging free space programme. It will give the audience the opportunity to take part in a post-show discussion, to offer feedback on The Ferryman's content and form.

The Ferryman is a noir re-visioning of Orpheus in the Underworld. Set in the 1940s Chicago jazz scene, it tells the story of Will's love affair with Kate - a dark lady in red, and catapults this brilliant but frustrated musician on a journey into his underworld of human experience. Will's destiny unwinds in 'The Second Circle', a backstreet bar where even the good find themselves in dark corners.

Bethany Lane said: "I am really excited to bring my play, The Ferryman, to a new city and audience through the experience of Development Lab.

"Development Lab is an invaluable scheme which has allowed me to make theatre without compromise.  Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of the scheme I have been given space and support I have needed."

The Ferryman will be performed at 19:30. Tickets, £3, are available on the door in advance from the Theatre in the Mill Box Office. For more information contact Rachel Kaye on 01274 235495
