The University of Bradford's School of Lifelong Education and Development (SLED), West Yorkshire Lifelong Learning Network (WYLLN), and staff and students from local colleges in West Yorkshire will be celebrating new partnerships and the developments of a number of new progression agreements at the University of Bradford on Tuesday 23 June.
The Progression Agreements will allow students who have studied certain Foundation Degrees and BTECs at Bradford College, Leeds Thomas Danby College and Calderdale College in Halifax, to 'top up' their qualifications to a number of degrees at the University.
Providing students from these colleges fulfil the entry requirements they will also benefit from a guaranteed place for study or an interview. In some cases this will include additional agreements about teaching and learning activities, and support activity, which is available to learners once in Higher Education.
Vocational Progression Co-ordinator at the University of Bradford, Mohan Mistry, said:"The Progression Agreements with our partner organisations will be of great benefit to the students within the West Yorkshire community who may wish to progress to Higher Education. We are delighted that the Progression Agreements will give this opportunity to the student community and we look forward to celebrating this at the event."
Director of WYLLN, Steve Challenger, said:"I am delighted that by working in partnership with Leeds Thomas Danby College, Calderdale College, Bradford College, and the University of Bradford, that we have been able to create new opportunities for vocational learners to continue learning in Higher Education. The Progression Agreements now in place between the institutions strengthen Higher Education and the support available to vocational learners across West Yorkshire."
