The School of Health Studies at the University of Bradford will be holding an event on Monday 3 August to celebrate the attainment of 'Teaching Status' by a number of its partner specialist healthcare units and care homes.
These healthcare units and care homes, which are based in the Bradford, Airedale, North Yorkshire and the Lancashire districts, have been working with the University since 2005 to attain this status. These organisations have worked to an agreed set of Quality Assurance Standards, which complied with the University's and professional body requirements for 'Supporting Learning and Assessment in Practice', and The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education's (QAA) 'Code of Practice on Placement Learning.'
Director of Clinical Education at the University, David Jamookeeah, said: "The University is delighted that our partner healthcare organisations have attainted teaching status. Such status will benefit not only our nursing students, who will continue to gain good experience in fundamental aspects of care but also the patients receiving care and treatment in these healthcare settings. Patients will continue to receive quality care which will be both evidenced based and contemporaneous."
