In all 3 years you will study microeconomics and macroeconomics,
learning about the principal tools and analytical techniques used by
economists
In each year of study you are able to select optional
modules
from a
range of applied areas of economics including industrial
economics,
financial economics, business economics, labour economics,
the economics
of leisure, international trade and international
monetary economics
You may also combine these choices with modules from across the
social
sciences and business, or choose a foreign language to help
widen your
career horizons
Our aim is to provide a flexible degree structure that
you can tailor to your interests in economics and related subjects
The first and second year also provides training in mathematical and
quantitative techniques which will help you understand modern economic
analysis, but also provide you with a useful set of skills for your
subsequent career
In the final year you will complete a supervised written
dissertation in an area of economics of interest to you. This is the
culmination of your studies and draws on the knowledge and experience
gained on the degree, providing both an assessment of your understanding
and an excellent showcase of your abilities to potential future
employers.
