6 – 12 hours depending on the level of support you require.
If you are from a non-traditional educational background and would like to gain access to higher education then this course is for you. Through this Accreditation of Prior Learning Module (APL)* module you will gain credits towards a higher education qualification by accrediting your prior work, training and life experiences.
You will work on a portfolio documenting your prior learning and work experiences, which you can submit for assessment at the end of the course, if you wish to.
Upon successful completion of the module you will gain you 20 credits plus gain APL credits.
You will learn the practical skills needed to take the next steps in to higher education.
You will learn how to analyse and reflect on your experiences in an academic environment, take stock of your skills and plan for your personal and career development.
*APL ( Accreditation of Prior Learning) - APL provides the opportunity for you to use prior learning and experience to be formally recognised and counted towards part of a course or qualification.
This module will help you:
Reflect on and capture your own learning experiences
Examine your personal development needs and explore how you might plan your future studies
Develop a professional curriculum vitae (CV)
Produce an appropriate action plan with agreed targets
Develop self-management and study skills appropriate to your own needs and the requirements of your course of study
Apply acquired skills to determine future learning needs
This course covers areas such as:
The learning cycle
Learning styles
Learning models and skills analysis
Target setting and action planning
Ways of developing core skills of employability, enterprise entrepreneurship and career opportunities
Methods and opportunity for improving core skills in relation to agreed targets and specialist requirements
Development and application for accrediting prior experiential learning
The course is 6 to 12 hours depending on the level of support you require and is delivered to both groups or to individuals. You will have an initial meeting which is then followed by guided support learning.
On successful completion of the course you will gain 20 credits at Level 1 (which can be used towards a degree).
£300 (£150 per 10 credit module)
You will be admitted onto the module on the basis of your ability to benefit from the programme.
