The ethos of the programme is to engage with participants and have discussion and debate surrounding the myths and truths of Islam in an informed environment. You will learn about the history and practices of Islam as well as the current debates surrounding Islam today. You will examine the historical and pre-historical context of Islam, debates, conflicts, contradictions and global and local perceptions of Islam.
This course is suited to a wide range of audiences particularly if you work in a managerial role. This course can help you develop your religious and cultural understanding in relation to leading a modern, international workforce. If you work in the public sector including the police, NHS, housing, education and social and youth services or if you are a community leader this course is also beneficial.
The programme has been developed to give you a deeper understanding and knowledge of Islam. You will be able to transfer this knowledge to your professional and personal life and in your community.
The course is flexible. You can study individual modules depending on your current needs or interests. However, the Certificate of Continuing Studies (60 Level 1 credits) is available should you wish to gain a named award as part of your continuing professional development.
This Certificate has been developed to run with the BA/BSc in Combined Studies , so if you wish you can use the credit gained on this award towards the Combined Studies programme.
£150 per 20 credits module.
You will be admitted on the basis of your ability to benefit from the course of study and you should be aware that one 20 credit module is at level 2 (Diploma Level)
