Call for papers - 11th Annual Learning, Teaching & Assessment Conference 2012

Improving student attainment

9.00 am - 4.00 pm Wednesday 11 July 2012

We invite proposals from University of Bradford staff for sessions exploring aspects of improving student attainment. Ensuring students achieve potential has always been an important aspect of the learner experience; however, the introduction of Key Information Sets (KIS) from September 2012, the increasing significance of league table results, and the current competitive job market etc, makes a more compelling case for institutions to demonstrate commitment to improving the standard of achievement. We are interested in hearing about the range of approaches and activities you engage in and their impact on student attainment.

Session formats

Sessions are 30 minutes long. The emphasis should be on reflection, exploration and evaluation drawing out lessons for others rather than merely describing what is happening and we encourage the involvement of delegates in active participation and discussion.

Proposals should demonstrate how they address the conference themes.

Themes

Theme 1: Improving Student Attainment through curriculum design.
Theme 2: Improving Student Attainment through the classroom (physical and virtual) experience.
Theme 3: Improving Student Attainment through the Personal Academic Tutor role.
Theme 4: Improving Student Attainment through assessment and feedback.

Submitting your proposal

Proposals should be submitted electronically to ced-sec@bradford.ac.uk using the template provided by 12.00 noon Monday 27 February 2012 .

Criteria for acceptance of proposals

Each proposal will be reviewed for acceptance at the conference against the following criteria:

Relevance to the conference title and themes.
Clarity and coherence of the proposal.
Contribution to scholarship, reflection and evaluation of ideas around the future of learning and teaching at school and institutional levels.
Clear opportunities for participants to actively engage in the session and to reflect on the potential for transfer to their own practice.
