Our parkland campus

The School of Management "village"

The School of Management's self-contained site is in six hectares of parkland in the leafy suburbs of Bradford, five kilometres from the city centre and main University of Bradford campus.

The Independent 's "A to Z of Business Schools" says that the site offers the opportunity to "live and study business in your own little village and gaze out on stunning views stretching to the Yorkshire Dales and Haworth, the Bronte home".

Our historic buildings

Partly financed by industrialist and philanthropist Sir Titus Salt, the neo-Gothic Emm Lane building was designed by the architects responsible for the Italianate Bradford City Hall, the city's Wool Exchange and Salt's Mill, which is now a World Heritage site. Most of the original interior features of the listed building, including a wealth of stained glass, have been retained during modernisation and redecoration. It is now used as teaching space, offices, common rooms, and meeting and reception rooms.

Heaton Mount , a former wool manufacturer's mansion, is now our centre for executive development. Built in the Italian style of architecture and completed in 1866, it was previously owned by a slavery abolitionist and a textile magnate. The building, which includes a sumptuous central hall with a broad double staircase and large window of finely painted glass, regularly features in English Heritage open days.

The coach house, which belonged to the mansion, is now a dedicated base for the Law School, and includes a large teaching room and syndicate rooms.

Modern buildings have been sympathetically integrated around the Emm Lane building and Heaton Mount, so that today's School of Management boasts a full range of state-of-the-art facilities to support your study.

In a major refurbishment programme, we have created a new student common room with personal computers and a refreshment area, and a new graduate-programmes office. We have also upgraded our lecture theatres, refectory and halls of residence.
