Through the exploration of both practical and theoretical considerations, the module aims to provide a systematic knowledge and understanding of the concepts of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability. In addition, the module aims to provide a critical awareness of the management and organisational challenges associated with the implementation of CSR policies and practices at the level of the individual organisation.
Knowledge will be disseminated using four main mechanisms: staff led-lectures that will provide an overview of the core concepts, theories and frameworks and provide key questions relating to the central topics; structured seminars based around prepared case studies will link to the lecture materials and form the basis for the development of ideas relating to CSR and sustainability; a role-play exercise that will provide the basis for the assessment; and directed study that will require students to undertake additional reading in relation to the subjects covered in the module.
