Linking your skills to occupations

http://www.prospects.ac.uk/links/pplanner Prospects Planner, a guidance tool designed specifically for Higher Education students, links your (External) skills and interests to graduate occupations.

Use it if:

You are just starting to think about careers and want to explore what you want out of a job and what you have to offer.
You have ideas about what you want, and need some help matching them to occupations.
You have a shortlist of occupations and would like some help in deciding if they are likely to offer you what you want.
You have made your career choice and would like some help with job hunting and applications.

http://www.prospects.ac.uk/links/pplanner (External) Prospects Planner does not set out to tell you what to do. Instead it helps you explore the key aspects of career planning in a systematic way, with you always in control. Here are some of the primary ways it can help you:

Finding out about yourself

What are you good at?
What will interest you?
What will motivate you?
What occupations are suggested by what you've said about yourself and why?

Finding Out About and Assessing Occupations

What do they involve?
How do they compare with your ideas about what you want from work?
How do they compare with each other?
How do you react to the suggested occupations?
Are you having to rethink your original ideas about what you want from work?
Are you discovering that some skills, interests or motivations are more important than others?

Taking Action

What are your chances of success in relation to a particular occupation?
How can you best present yourself?
What do you write about on an application?
How do you put together a CV?
