Advanced Materials Engineering
People who engineer new materials with advanced properties are at the cutting edge of today's technology. Indeed, they play a central role in all the high-technology industries. Electronic polymers, biomaterials, advanced ceramics, nanocomposites and ‘smart' materials are just a few examples of the new material developments that have made an enormous impact in the lives of millions of people. Advanced Materials Engineering research at Bradford is at the forefront of many of these technologies.
Our track record is one of strong research support and delivery, and extensive collaboration with industry. We have a successful and enthusiastic research culture which has resulted in many high quality journal publications, international conference presentations, and research student successes.
Our research strengths arise from the combined expertise of our world-class advanced material engineering research centres:
The UK Interdisciplinary Research Centre (IRC) in Polymer Science and Technology (across the Universities of Leeds, Bradford, Durham and Sheffield)
