Jonathan Goodhand

Dr Jonathan Goodhand is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Development Studies, School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.
Previously he managed NGO aid programmes in South and Central Asia and helped develop DFID's Strategic Conflict Assessment methodology. Before joining SOAS he was a researcher at the Institute of Development Policy and Management, University of Manchester.

His primary research interests are the political economy of armed conflict, NGOs and peacebuilding and 'post conflict' reconstruction, with a particular focus on Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. He has written extensively on these subjects including publications in Third World Quarterly, World Development, Development and Change, Disasters and the Journal of Agrarian Change. His most recent publication is J. Goodhand (2006) 'Aiding Peace? The Role of NGOs in Armed Conflict' Lynne Rienner.
