EcoversityIn 2005 the University launched itself as an ‘Ecoversity’ which aims to make Bradford a leading sustainable campus and promote more sustainable lifestyles amongst staff and students.
As part of this change programme we are recruiting at least 10 student ambassadors who will help develop a programme to promote student participation in Ecoversity. Ambassador projects have run in a number of Universities and have been found to provide tremendous experience and skills development opportunities for the participating students.
The ambassadors will be high profile and will work as a team who will be supported by a senior member of staff. The team will develop, co-ordinate and implement projects on a number of environmental themes e.g recycling, energy awareness.
Each ambassador will receive induction and on-going training to develop a range of skills in team-work leadership, communication and project management. You will be expected to organise, develop and participate in projects involving student volunteers to implement (or highlight the need for) changes in student and staff behaviours towards the environment.
The ambassador project will require you to commit a minimum of 3 hours a week from the end of October 2007 through to May 2008. In addition the training programme will require 1 full day and 2 evening sessions. Further funds will support hours invested by those organising specific projects.
Each ambassador will be paid £7.00/hour including time spent on training. Specific projects will be led by individual ambassadors.
Application details can be found at the University JobShop .
Closing date for applications 18th October 2007, Interviews will take place w/c 22nd October.
