EcoversityEcoversity is proud to be holding the district's 2007 World Environment Day celebrations.
As part of the Bradford Eco-City Campaign collaboration between Ecoversity and the District Environment Partnership, we will be giving you the opportunity to learn about and explore ideas on improving environment performance.
10am - 3pm, Barn Lecture Theatre
Do you want to know more about how organisations can improve environmental performance?
An opportunity for businesses, voluntary and community groups, employees and students to explore ideas, identify the benefits and tackle the barriers to green change.
Workshops include Energy Efficiency, Sustainable Construction, Recycling and Waste, Biodiversity, Travel Planning and Transport, Sustainable Procurement.

3.15pm, Peace Garden, adjacent to Horton A Building
Mark Cleary, Vice-Chancellor, will join forces with representatives from Ecoversity to plant a tree to mark the final stages of the Peace Garden Project.

The £150,000 project funded by the University and the districts Greener, Cleaner, Safer Communities Fund, is being constructed for the benefit of students, staff and local residents.
The garden is the first step in our efforts to pedestrianise our city centre campus which we hope will improve the social wellbeing and environment for our students, staff and local residents to enjoy. It has been designed to serve many purposes, importantly to:
All are welcome at the ceremony which will be taking place at 3.15pm at the Peace Garden (the grassy area adjacent to Horton A, between Richmond Road and Great Horton Road).

Do you want to hear more about how EcoCitys are being developed in other parts of the world?
Peter Head, who lectures widely all over the world on sustainable development and is project director for the Dongtan Eco City, will be here to present his views. He led an initiative to create a voluntary code of practice for sustainable planning, design and construction of London's built environment and now leads a newly integrated ‘Planning Plus’ Business within the Consulting Sector in Arup.
Come along to this open lecture which follows on from the World Environment day event. Refreshments will be available from 3pm.

5pm - 7pm, Gallery II: Exhibition Launch (all welcome)
Fit to Media exhibits the very best work from Final-Year and Master’s students from the Department of Electronic Imaging and Media Communications who have participated in courses specifically concerned with the relationship between the Contemporary Visual Arts and New Media.
This year students have been asked to consider issues relating to Space and Visual Representation, Urban Living, Sustainability and the Environment.
