Bank Holiday weekend: Saturday 28 - Monday 30 August
The electrical shutdown planned as part of the Combined Heat and Power project is confirmed for Saturday 28 August. Student Central, Unique: Fitness & Lifestyles and the Institute for Cancer Therapeutics will all be open over the bank holiday weekend but all other City Campus buildings will be locked for security and health & safety purposes during the three days of works. This will include the JB PRIESTLEY library which will close at 9pm on Friday and remain closed until 8:45am on Tuesday, 31 August.
The power will only actually be cut to the Richmond Building including the Workshop Block for up to eight hours on Saturday. IT systems should be unaffected by the shutdown subject to work going to plan. It will be necessary for all electrical items, not on a backup supply, to be switched off in the Richmond building and as far as possible in other buildings at the end of the day on Friday 27.
It is not anticipated that the School of Health Studies and the School of Management campuses will be affected by the works.
The CHP is an innovative project which will allow us to save money and reduce our impact on the environment by generating our own heat and electricity on campus. More about the Combined Heat and Power Project .

"Humanism" is the view that we can make sense of the world using reason, experience and shared human values and that we can live good lives without religious or superstitious beliefs. Humanists seek to make the best of the one life we have by creating meaning and purpose for ourselves. We choose to take responsibility for our actions and work with others for the common good.
You may be a Humanist already and just not know it!

The University of Bradford has set up an appeal pay facility in the Hub Payzone to gather contributions for the Disaster Emergencies Committee (DEC) appeal for the people affected by the floods in Pakistan. The code is 0290/16401/000000/XA301.
Over 1,600 people are reported to have died with that number likely to rise as more information becomes available. Around 14 million people are believed to have been affected by the floods which may worsen as further rain falls and water moves downstream. In the aftermath of the floods there is a serious risk to survivors from potentially deadly diseases which will spread as a result of contaminated surface and drinking water.
If you are a UK tax payer please remember to ask for a Gift Aid form so the DEC can also claim back the tax (currently 28p in the pound).
The facility will be available during normal Hub Payzone opening times (currently 10am to 4pm), until Friday 27 August, at which point all funds raised will be transferred across to the DEC for immediate use.
Alternatively, you can (External) donate personally via the web .
