We require all non-UK applicants to provide proof of proficiency in English. A score of 6.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test of English, 580 in the written Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), 240 in the computerbased TOEFL or 94 or better in the internet-based TOEFL is the minimum requirement.
Can I have an unconditional offer and then study for IELTS?
No. We make unconditional offers only to candidates who have met all our admission criteria.
What documents do I need to send to support my application?
You need to send us copies of your academic qualifications and your IELTS and TOEFL results (if appropriate). You should also ask two referees (at least one of whom should be an academic) each to complete copies of the confidential reference form and return them directly to the recruitment office.
How long will it take you to process my application?
Provided you have sent us all the supporting documents we need, we can normally decide on your application within a week of receiving it. Please feel free to contact our recruitment office after this period of time. However, because we use the postal system to provide written confirmation of our decision, it may take up to three weeks for you to receive this.
Do you charge an application fee?
We charge no application fee.
Can you arrange a part-time job for me while I am studying?
Some of our MA and MSc students do take part-time jobs in the evenings, at weekends or during vacations. The University of Bradford JobShop advertises such opportunities, and tries to match skills and experience with the vacancies available. However, we do not encourage our MA or MSc students to take part-time work, as the course itself is intensive and demanding. Many workshops and other events are also scheduled outside the usual teaching timetable.
Will I need a work permit to work in the UK?
Non-EU students require a work permit to work in the UK. Employers have to
apply for a permit when they offer a job to a non-EU citizen, or students may
apply for a permit themselves through the Highly Skilled Migrant Worker scheme.
The School of Management cannot give advice on work permits and students are
advised to consult the information at (External)
www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/workingintheuk/
Can you guarantee to find a job for me after I have graduated?
Because our MA and MSc are quality qualifications, tied closely to the world of work, employers regard them highly. We consequently have an excellent record in helping graduates to gain challenging and rewarding management jobs. However, we cannot guarantee to find a job for each of our MA or MSc graduates.
What is it like to live and study in Bradford?
Bradford is a relatively safe city. Government figures reveal that crimes of
robbery and violence against the person occur much less frequently, per head
of population, in Bradford than in similar UK cities such as Liverpool, Birmingham,
Nottingham and Manchester.
