Chancellor: University of Bradford

Mr Imran Khan

Installation of Imran Khan as Chancellor of the University of Bradford

Wednesday 7 December 2005

A New Era brings with it an exciting new beginning

Today is a momentous day for the University of Bradford. It is with great pleasure and honour that I am pleased to announce the installation of our Chancellor-elect, Mr Imran Khan.

We were particularly pleased to be able to film the Installation of Mr Imran Khan as Chancellor. Audio and video from the event will be online soon. Do come back and visit us!

Imran Khan joins a list of distinguished Chancellors of the University, which include Lord Wilson of Rievaulx, Sir John Harvey-Jones, Sir Trevor Holdsworth and Baroness Betty Lockwood.

Imran Khan, through his achievements and endeavours, embodies the interest and style of the University. He will be a role model for young people in the University and the City, and will be a valuable bridge between East and West.

I am also delighted to announce the conferment of an Honorary Degree to Baroness Amos, in recognition of her work towards social justice and equality. For all the University staff, it is an occasion to watch with pride as our students receive their reward. We have taken a close interest in each of them over the past few years, and have come to know most of them personally.

For all of us it is a joyous occasion. May I take this opportunity to wish all of you who are receiving awards success and happiness in your future life and career, whatever that may bring.

And may I wish you all the happiest memories of this day.
