About Us

We define community partnerships at the University of Bradford as the way we work with local communities and the private, public and voluntary sector to understand and build a better more sustainable Bradford District. The Community Partnerships team work to understand the ways in which the University of Bradford connects with the City and District and its local communities.

By understanding these interactions we hope to pool resources, connect people and communicate the range of work we undertake with the locality to encourage partnerships and collaborations that will benefit the Bradford District.

Our approach is simple, we work with you to identify issues and help find solutions by forming and sustaining partnerships. These partnerships may lead to short-term projects and or long-term initiatives, research opportunities or knowledge transfer activities

Some key objectives for us are to; increase public access to the University Campus; encourage engagement by staff and students with community partnerships activities and enhance the University's connectivity with the City. Download the University's Community Partnerships Strategy (pdf, 139KB).

We will work towards these objectives whilst supporting and helping to deliver the University's corporate aims:

  • Making knowledge work through effective knowledge transfer* between the University and private, public, voluntary and community sectors
  • Being outward facing, collaborating strategically with the city and regional, national and international partners

*Knowledge Transfer is the exchange of ideas, knowledge and expertise between the University and external communities where the aim is to create economic and social benefit. We, as an institution, are committed to feeding back information from research.
