The Compact Scheme forms part of a wide range of activities offered by the University of Bradford to students studying at school or college. It provides post-16 students with a programme of activities from which they can select, including the opportunity to attend taster days, masterclasses to support advanced level programmes of study, reader access to the library, higher education guidance and assistance with University applications.
Students who register on the scheme will receive a diary of events and can book places on those that appeal to them. Places for all activities will be allocated on a forst-come-first-served basis and students will receive notification if they have been allocated a place.
Participating in the scheme will benefit those students who wish to progress on to courses at the University of Bradford by providing them with the opportunity to attend an assessed Y13 Summer School to obtain an additional 30 UCAS points towards their University of Bradford conditional offer.
All students must complete a Compact Scheme Application Form to be registered on the scheme. If library access is desired a passport sized photograh should be attached to the form or alternatively a digital photograph can be sent by e-mail.
To qualify to attend the Compact Summer School students must have accepted a firm offer to study on an undergraduate degree at the University of Bradford and meet at least one of the criteria outlined below.
Please note that the 30 points awarded for the successful completion of the summer school cannot be used for entry to the Bradford Foundation Year. Students wishing to attend the Compact Summer School must complete the application form which needs to be signed by your referee or Head of Sixth Form. Please ensure that this application form is returned by the stipulated deadline date.
To be eligible to attend the assessed Compact Summer School students must meet one or more of the following criteria:
*A list of postcodes that meet the criterion 'Live in a geographical area with low levels of progression onto higher education' is available from the Education Liaison team.
To enjoy maximum benefit from the scheme we encourage all students attending events to enrol on to the Compact Scheme. Individual students wishing to attend an event will be required to complete the Compact Registration Form prior to attending. It is, however, possible for tutors to book to attend a taster day or masterclass with a group of their students without the need for each student to register individually.
Only students who register on the Compact Scheme will be invited to attend the Y13 Compact Summer School. Please note the deadline for Y13 to register on the Compact Scheme is 31st March 2012.
