Press Release 26 February 2002 Top television chef Paul Rankin will be demonstrating his culinary genius when he cooks up a treat for staff, students and guests at the University of Bradford's School of Management on Thursday, February 21. Paul, star of BBC2's Ready Steady Cook programme, will be visiting Bradford as a result of his links with Sodexho - the UK's leading catering and support services provider, with which the School of Management formed a partnership in April 2001. The School has chosen two brand new dishes - herb crusted salmon with leeks, mushrooms and red wine vinaigrette, and pear and raspberry crumble with raspberry cream, from a selection of menus that Paul has created - for the chefs to cook during a special training session for the venue's catering teams. Paul will be working hands-on with catering staff from the School's executive education and conference centre, Heaton Mount, and will be joined by staff from the refectory at the School's Emm Lane site, to create over 100 portions of the selected dishes. Students will have a chance to talk to Paul and sample his cuisine at the refectory at lunchtime. Guests of the School of Management and the Dean, Professor Arthur Francis, will then meet Paul and enjoy the dishes at Heaton Mount's Garden Dining Room. The afternoon will be rounded off by a book signing from Paul. School of Management House Manager for Sodexho, Patricia Cannon, who has organised the event, said: "This will be perfect for both the development and motivation of the School's catering department. It is an appropriate exercise for a School that is already associated with best practice and innovation. "It also means that we will
have Paul's seal of approval, as his signature will go alongside the dishes
he has created on our menus - which will add further prestige to our well-respected
conference facilities."
