NEW MODEL ARMY HELPS RESEARCH

New Model Army.Bradford-based rock band New Model Army lent a University of Bradford research project a helping hand when they permitted a multi-camera shoot of a live concert performance.

The band's manager, Tommy Tee, permitted a film crew from the University to do the shoot in Wolverhampton's Civic Hall. The resulting video, featuring 23 live tracks, has now completed post-production.

The camera crew, consisting of Tony Hogben, Joe Ibbotson, Stephen Webb and Shaun Whitehart, from Electronic Imaging and Media Communications (EIMC), were directed by James Brailsford, a graduate of EIMC. Lecturer Richard Woodcock provided technical back-up and advice.

The project was part of a doctoral research programme, by Daragh O'Reilly, Lecturer in Marketing at the School of Management, on the consumption of rock music.

Daragh said: "New Model Army is an excellent band to study, because it's been able to create its own fan culture in a way which seems to be different in many important respects to that of other bands.

"Having a video recording of the band in action enables me to relive and revisit the live performance for analysis purposes whenever I want."
