Boost for International Recruitment
Representatives
from the University's International Office recently attended a high-profile
recruitment exhibition in the Chinese capital of Beijing.

International Office, Dr Haydn Bartlett, signs a new agreement with a
specialist agency in China to increase recruitment potential.
The University was
invited to participate in the "Promotion of Top-Flight Universities from
Abroad" event as part of the fifth China Beijing International High-Tech
Expo.
The number of Chinese
students studying at the University has increased significantly over the
last few years - from 83 registered in 2000/2001 to 203 in 2001/2002.
This figure is expected to grow as overseas links are strengthened and
new partnerships are founded.
Head of the International
Office, Dr Haydn Bartlet said: "The event offered us a new showcase in
the heart of the Chinese capital and interest was high. We have also signed
a new agreement with a specialist agency in China to increase our recruitment
potential there. This will build on work already underway via collaborations
with Heilongjiang and other institutions."
Vice-Chancellor Professor
Chris Taylor said: "The increases in recruitment are due to the continued
success of our overseas collaborations and the popularity of our courses,
and I am delighted that we continue to attract students from other countries.
This mix of students makes the University a very vibrant place to be."
