Drop-In Sessions

Student Central sign. Drop-In Services are available throughout the year. Drop-In enables students and staff to see a Counsellor for up to 30 minutes without the need to make an appointment. You will normally be able to access Drop-In within 24 hours.  Drop- In times are subject to change, especially during holiday periods; please contact the service to confirm times.

Your counsellor will either try to help with your problem there and then, or will make you an appointment (for up to 50 minutes) to see a counsellor on another day. Drop in if:

  • you want to see someone on the day
  • you are not sure if counselling is right for you but you would like to find out
  • you want information (counselling related)
  • you would like to briefly discuss an issue
  • you would like to talk to a counsellor between your normal counselling appointment times.

Your counsellor will ask you to briefly outline your difficulty and make an assessment of your needs. It may not be possible to resolve your difficulties in the alotted time and you will be offered the option of ongoing counselling.
