It is easy to assume that because you were in the top year in your school environment you have the academic skills needed for University. Lecturers expect accurate spelling and use of grammar with a wide vocabulary. You need to listen and absorb what is said in lectures, to search for information from academic sources and to think critically about what you are reading, hearing or writing. Give yourself a head start; use these resources to check and develop your skills.
