What happens to your contribution?

What would you be agreeing to if you decided to participate?

You'd be agreeing to:

  • Read all the information I've provided so I can be sure that you are making a fully informed decision about whether or not to take part.
  • Take the responsibility to contact me if you need any questions answering or to clear up any doubts you might have at any stage of the project.
  • Tell me which level of involvement you wanted with your story:
    • Simply send your story and consent form with no further involvement.
    • Agree to me sending you my work on your story so that you can let me know whether you think I've understood you well or let me know if you want me to change any of my conclusions about your experiences.
  • Me holding your story in an electronic password-access file on a secure server where only University of Bradford staff will have access for the duration of the research. These files and any paper copies will be erased/destroyed once the research is written up and completed.
  • Your story (with your identity protected through anonymisation) being printed in the project write-up (a PhD thesis).
  • The use of your anonymous story in a research publication (an article in a professional journal or book chapter or book). If this happened identifying information about you and your family, friends or associates will be removed and every attempt will be made to ensure my anonymity.

What if you are not sure about taking part?

Then you could:

  • Put off sending a story until you felt ready, any time up to the cut-off date which is updated on this site.
  • Send me a mail or give me a ring to get further details about the project and what it means for you.
  • Check the website for updates about how the project is going to see if it seems like you might be able to offer something.
  • Take the option where I send you my work on your story back to give you the chance to have a say in what I include in my understanding of men's experiences.
