Induction Day for Associate Deans
Date: 26 July 2010 - 26 July 2010
All academic Schools are in the process of appointing an Associate Dean for Employer Engagement, co-funded by Escalate and the University. These roles have been created to boost the profile of employer engagement, with a focus on strategic direction and culture change within the whole institution. An Induction Day was held on 14th July 2010 for Associate Deans, shortlisted candidates and a group of internal experts, with keynote speakers from HEFCE, the West Yorkshire Lifelong Learning Network (WYLLN), the Higher Education Academy and Foundation Degree Forward (FdF) sharing their experience and perspective on engaging with employers.
During the event the invited speakers covered a wide range of topics such as the strategic drivers for employer engagement and the employers perspective. Scenarios of working with employers were considered, and discussions took place on the best approach to take in responding to these employers' needs, bearing in mind current university systems and processes and any issues that may need to be addressed.
