Skills Needs Analysis
Effective workforce development planning begins with understanding the skills that your organisation needs in order to achieve its strategic objectives.
Yet determining what these skills needs are can be a really difficult job. It involves:
- describing the skills and competencies required in terms of knowledge, behaviours, application and level - this is sometimes included in the relevant National Occupational Standards or in a Sector Skills Agreement or Qualifications Framework
- assessing the existing skills of the workforce, department or individual
- identifying training and development to meet any skills gaps.
The University has skills needs analysis tools and experienced individuals to support you in this process.
We can work with you to look at skills in terms of your internal situation - your 'micro environment' - and help you determine what foreseeable changes you may need to factor in to any learning your employees undertake. We also have the ability to help you to look at the 'macro environment' to see what external factors affecting your industry or sector also need to be taken into account.
Once we have completed a skills needs analysis we can work with individuals on personal development planning and work with employers to design and accredit learning packages to suit organisations' requirements.
Our bespoke approach to a skills needs analysis supports your organisation through the process.
