NCB Return Procedure

The procedure for the collection of data is as follows:

  1. The information required relates to the period 1 August 2010 - 31 July 2011.
  2. We publish a spreadsheet for each Department. You should download only the spreadsheet for your Department (or Centre, or Unit...). If you received multiple copies of our memo asking for NBC statistics, please download the spreadsheets named in each.
  3. We have already entered records for any courses that were known to us on the date of this memo. Please check these records and correct them if necessary.
  4. Enter any additional records on the spreadsheet, extending the sheet downwards from the first blank row after row 9 and observing the column labels in row 9. "Students" means the number of participants excluding lecturers and helpers. "Hours" means the duration of the course in hours rounded up to the nearest integer (not the duration multiplied by the number of students). Please do not leave any rows blank.
  5. All activities submitted must have been undertaken in the name of the University of Bradford, either solely or jointly with other bodies.
  6. All unaccredited closed (bespoke) courses should be included
  7. Unaccredited distance or open learning activities should be included. The method of obtaining the duration in hours is explained in the notes of guidance.
  8. We can include events which have been offered free of charge (with no income either via individual fees or sponsorship in lieu of fees).
  9. Events held overseas and those aimed at under-18s cannot, unfortunately, be included.
  10. If you are making a nil return, or if you have no additions or amendments to make to our spreadsheet, there is no need to return the spreadsheet file itself - just email us to confirm that you have checked the data.
  11. To give us time to prepare the summary data, we are asking for responses as soon as possible and by 1 September at the latest. Please return the spreadsheet(s) by email to events@bradford.ac.uk. Please do not change the name(s) of the file(s).

If you have any queries, please contact Dr Patrick Litherland on extension 3214 (email j.p.litherland@bradford.ac.uk).
