Most students experience
few difficulties during their time at Bradford. However, if you do need
help or advice, we have an extensive network of welfare services and pastoral
care which covers all manner of difficulties and problems. When you register
you will receive a booklet giving full details and opening times of all
the information and welfare services.
University
Health Service
The Health
Service provides a confidential and comprehensive service of health
care, with access to specialist facilities. You can register with one
of the doctors, and make use of the full service.
The Health
Service has four doctors (one full-time and three part-time) and friendly
support staff. Minor procedures such as cervical smears and simple operations
can be undertaken.
Consultations and
treatment are strictly confidential. Nothing is disclosed without your
permission. But with your agreement, the doctors can work closely with
academic staff and the Counselling
Service to ensure that you and your studies do not suffer unduly through
ill-health or stress.
Nursery
If you have children
between the ages of 6 months and 5 years, you can apply for them to have
a place at the University's nursery.
It is staffed by qualified Nursery Nurses and Nursery Assistants, and
has facilities for 69 children in all. The Nursery
is situated close to the main campus behind the Halls of Residence on
Laisteridge Lane. You can obtain information on charges and facilities
from the Nursery Officer-in-Charge on 01274 234866.
Applications for
places should be addressed to her too at the University address or via
email: g.dekker@bradford.ac.uk.
