Fairtrade at the University of BradfordA banner which is travelling around the world in support of Fairtrade came to the University on Monday 23rd April 2007.
The Global Journey banner, organised by the International Fairtrade Association, has been travelling the globe since 2004 to help raise awareness of Fairtrade. It has already visited 40 countries in Africa, Asia, the America’s and Australasia, before arriving in Europe.
The banner arrived in Bradford this morning for reception by the Lord Mayor. There will then be a procession through Bradford, via the College, and onto the University over lunchtime. Once at the University, there was a reception in the Atrium followed by a presentation at the Students’ Union, which included a number of guest speakers. The University and Student’s Union provided Fairtrade information, goodies and stalls in support of the event.
