National Scholarship Programme

The University of Bradford is participating in the new National Scholarship Programme (NSP) and will provide 228 scholarships for 2012.

The programme is designed to help people from low income families wanting to access Higher Education in England. The scholarships are jointly funded by the Government and the University.

The majority of students do not need to make a direct application for a National Scholarship. You will be automatically assessed as long as you apply for government support through Student Finance England before the advertised deadline.

We may ask you to provide additional documentation to confirm your eligibility.

Criteria

These will be applied in the order given:

  • Students permanently resident in England and classed as a “home” student for funding purposes
  • Assessed income of under £25,000 (students in receipt of a full grant)
  • Have made the University of Bradford your firm choice  via UCAS
  • Applied to Student Finance England by the deadline to be guaranteed to receive loan and grant payments in time for the start of the academic year
  • Full time students on courses with a £9,000 fee, excluding Social Work (Care Leavers not in receipt of fee support from their local authority and students in receipt of Disabled Living Allowances (DLAs) will be able to receive the NSP even if they are on a reduced fee course)
  • Care Leavers (not in receipt of fee support through their local authority as part of their leaving care package)*, Disabled (in receipt of DLAs)*, Travellers*, Refugees*, students living in Low Participation Neighbourhoods – areas where it is not traditional for people to attend University (lowest quintile – by postcode)**

If we still have more than 228 students after applying the above criteria we will then take into account academic achievement and award the scholarship to highest achieving eligible students on each course.

*Please feel free to contact us if you are a student in one of the target groups above.
You can call us on 01274 236637 or email us at nsp@bradford.ac.uk

Our NSP Offer

The application process

We will automatically identify eligible students as far as we are able to using data from UCAS and Student Finance England.  To ensure you are considered for the NSP you must consent to share your information with us when you are assessed for your loans and grants.

We will inform you by letter if you are eligible to receive an NSP award.
