This prestigious award aims to reward and celebrate the exceptional contributions of individual staff to the University's KT success. Taken as a snap-shot of work completed by the individual in the last 18 months and based on an assessment of economical, social and environmental impact at national and international level, the significance of external relationships developed and the overall benefit to the University.

Applications are accepted from any University of Bradford staff either applying for themselves or a colleague for KT work carried out since August 2009.  Look at last year's video of shortlisted candidates in this category on our press and publicity page.

Rules and Conditions

  1. Individuals/areas may be nominated for more than one of the awards categories or make multiple nominations for different projects under this award.
  2. Entries are accepted by any University of Bradford staff.
  3. Winning entries from previous years will not be considered.  However, non-winning entries will be considered provided they fit within the stated timescale. 
  4. All entries must be signed by the person being nominated for the award to ensure the information given is correct and for them to agree to the project information being divulged.
  5. All entries must be received by 1700 hours on Friday 28 January 2011 through completion of the online application form provided. Late entries will not be accepted.
  6. Entrants who are short-listed must agree to take part in media publicity, to cooperate with the filming of a video to be shot in their place of work which will be shown at the awards ceremony, and to agree to allow a case study of their winning application to be prepared and used by the University in any future publicity.
  7. Shortlisted entrants will be expected to consider referencing the awards in their own publicity and promotional materials.
  8. Judging will take place during week commencing 14 February. The short list of 5 entrants will be announced week commencing 21st February. Short-listed entrants must make themselves available for filming week commencing 28 February 2011.
  9. Winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony to be held on Wednesday 13 April 2011.
  10. All applications are confidential and will be assessed for Intellectual Property (IP) potential. If IP potential exists, this will be followed up separately with the nominee.
  11. Entrants must declare any interest which could interfere with the decision making process.
  12. There can be no appeal against the Judges' decision and these decisions must be accepted as final in respect of all matters concerning this competition, including the interpretation of the rules and conditions.

Shortlisting

First round judges:

  • Professor Phil Coates, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer, University of Bradford (Chair)
  • Malcolm Barraclough, Innovation Coordinator, Invest in Bradford
  • Tamsin Holt, Head of Research Support, University of Bradford
  • Paul Jagger, Chair of Council, University of Bradford

These judges will create a shortlist of 5 applicants who will be notified of their success week commencing 21 February 2011. Each shortlisted candidate will be interviewed on film w/c 28 February 2011. These films along with the initial paper application will be used by Mark Cleary, Vice-Chancellor, University of Bradford to decide a winner. These videos will also be shown during the awards ceremony on Wednesday 13 April 2011 and the winner will be announced that evening.
