The Showcase was alive with external guests and partners, and students and staff enjoying creative demonstrations and enthusiastic explanations from academics which show how they are supporting the University's 'Making Knowledge Work' strapline. There were also stands for Services for Business, Enterprise and Employability, Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, Academic Support, Learning and Teaching Research, Ecoversity and Developments on Campus, and the British Science Festival. The event was the unveiling of activity organised around 3 research and knowledge transfer themes: Healthcare Science, Innovative Engineering and People and Society. Professor Phil Coates. Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer, said "I am sure that the layout and activity inspired by these overarching research themes contributed to such an energised event and I am grateful to all who ran the displays and brought imagination and a lot of hard work to their preparation and delivery."
The Excellence in KT Awards, which followed the Showcase, celebrates our engagement with industry and other partners nationally and internationally and the positive contributions we have on society, the economy and the environment. They aim to reward, refresh and encourage staff involvement in KT activity, strengthen and create external business relationships, and express our successes to partners, funders and the press.
